Like his hero Jackie Robinson, Avery is a leader. He knows what is best for his team and always puts the needs of his team first. He is a very unselfish and caring boy who looks out for his friends. Avery also has a great sense of humor and likes to tell jokes.

Avery’s car is named “Robinson” after the great baseball player Jackie Robinson, who was the first black American to ever play in Major League Baseball. In 1945, the Brooklyn Dodgers signed him and their colors were blue and white, which is why Avery’s car displays those colors.

Author’s Insight: “I have been a huge baseball fan for as long as I can remember. Signing Jackie Robinson was a monumental change to Major League Baseball and I felt it was important to honor his legacy. He wore the number 42 on his jersey, so it seemed fitting to put it on Avery’s car”
